Four NWRRC members took part in the very well attended but hot Wilmslow Summer 10k race on Sunday, with Kelly Marie Alford probably the pick of the team, and she was delighted to record another course PB of nearly one and a half minutes.

Kelly eventually finished in 1,063rd place in 48.33, with Cai Roberts next in 1,110th place in 49.03. And Kevin Higgins was also in form and finished 1,212th in 53.00, with master veteran Mike Hayton 1,585th and enjoying a steady run in 58.35. Mike said: “Wilmslow 10k this morning, with my nephew Pete. A scenic course and a lovely sunny morning.”

Kevin later added: “A great race and well organised but it was bit hot” The race attracted over 2,500 entrants.

Charlotte Rose Wilton Jones and her club colleague Vicky Taylor competed in the Xterra Snowdonia 10k Trail Race last Sunday. Charlotte finished in 63rd place in 1 hour 12 minutes and 26 seconds, and ran with her friend Hope Carter, who was 68th in 1.12.43, whilst Vicky was pleased with her determined efforts in 156th place in 1.31.41.

After the race, Charlotte admitted: “We did it! That was tough, but a massive well done to Hope Carter on running her first ever race. You smashed it! A fantastic time of 1hour and 12mins.

*Former NWRRC member Gemma Moore (Eryri Harriers) was the 1st female finisher, and in 3rd place overall in the Snowdonia Trail 10k event in 50.24, and she was almost seven-minutes ahead of her nearest female rival. Her partner and club colleague Nic Brook ran in the challenging Snowdonia Trail half-marathon race and finished 4th overall, and he was the 2nd MV40 athlete in 2.01.27.

*Chester: NWRRC member Helen Hannam and her mother Carol Acton, power-walked the Race 4 Life fundraising event at Chester on Sunday. Helen later said: “I am so proud of my mother. A lovely route, and amazing atmosphere and crowd support. Thank you to everyone who have donated and sent messages - Smashing Races to Smash Cancer!”

 *Ellesmere Port: Jon Evans enjoyed another good performance in the Ellesmere Port parkrun and he was just twenty-seconds short of recording a new course PB. Jon was 13th overall in 21.25 and he finished 2nd in his MV55 age cat.

*Penrhyn Castle: Will Williams finished 3rd at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun, and he also won his MV50 age cat in 18.25. After the run, Will confirmed: “A steady effort, feeling fit and strong at the moment, and being able to pick it up on the last mile felt good.”
