The first time I went to Ballymena was in 1997, I was running in the W35 Team and Liz Clarke was the Team Manager. This was in the days when Welsh Masters organised transport to the event and they had arranged for a bus to leave Cardiff and pick up runners from North Wales at Knutsford Service Station on the M6. Then the bus would travel upto Stranraer in Scotland, and catch the ferry to Larne and then onto Ballymena. This must have taken an awful lot of organising and I was looking forward not only to the weekend running for Wales but the journey itself was going to be an adventure.
