Just like to say it was a pleasure to help out on Sunday in spite of the weather. I was made to feel very welcome by the volunteers, officials and the athletes themselves. There was plenty of banter!
Please pass on my thanks to the volunteers who provided the refreshments on the day......it kept me going after officiating 4 field events.
My only disappointment was that my “Dark Sky” event at the Brecon visitor centre was cancelled for Sunday evening/Monday morning.....for the 4th time. If any of the Welsh Athletic Clubs in the area are in need of a Field Official they are quite welcome to approach me if I am available as I always enjoy touring the Brecon’s and I like using my CADW membership card.
"Welsh Masters put on an outstanding Championships on Sunday. Unexpectedly blessed by some sun amid a shower or two and a mostly favourable breeze, as a guest runner I was warmly welcomed to this well supported event by athletes right across Wales and some beyond.
The Ron Jones is a top class track and nestles beautifully in the hills surrounding Aberdare and adjacent to vast playing fields, thronged that day with youngsters of all ages playing, unsurprisingly in South Wales, rugby with huge enthusiasm.
The day ran smoothly to time with results out online within 30 minutes of the end of the race. Everyone I chatted to loved the day, and thanks to organisers and officials for putting on the best meeting I've been to in ages."
