It was a double delight for the Welsh Masters Athletics website manager Juliet Sidney at last weekend’s British Masters Track & Field Championships at Derby, where the veteran ‘Pocket Rocket’ collected two prestigious gold medals for winning both of her 100 and 200m races.

The talented W55 age category winner, who currently holds the No 1 spot nationally for both race distances, was thrilled by her success on the track at the impressive but windswept Moorways Sports Complex, and now hopes to maintain her top form in readiness for the forthcoming European Championships later this month.

After the 100m race (13.96), Juliet said: “I was pleased with the win in the BM Championships W55, 100m. And great also to see Louise Kirby grab the Bronze.”

And after the 200m event (29.43), she added: “I am building consistency for the European Championships starting on 21st September, and it was great to meet up with, and watch so many awesome athletes, and friends. “A big shout out to my club Newport Harriers Athletic Club, and my team @teampearce. Great coaching from Eric Oram, and a full support programme from @elite82high www.elite82.co.uk “Lucky to have such an awesome team around me. And another big shout out to the best husband in the world Neil Sidney, always winning having him in my life.”
